Northern DalesBus 831 from Middlesbrough, Stockton on Tees and Darlington to the Yorkshire Dales returns for the Summer 2023 season running every Sunday and Bank Holiday from 4th June 2023.
This popular service runs past Scotch Corner to Richmond, then travels along beautiful Swaledale to Reeth and Muker, then climbs over the spectacular Buttertubs Pass to Hawes. It is probably one of the most scenic bus rides in the British Isles, with unspoilt wilderness, wildflower meadows, heather moorland, caves and waterfalls, limestone scenery, long distance footpaths, classic views of the Three Peaks and Ribblehead Viaduct as well as shops, cafes and pubs dotted along the route - there is something for everyone to see and do. The service will run every Sunday and Bank Holiday until 22nd October 2023 departing Middlesbrough Bus Station at 0920, Stockton High Street at 0932, Darlington Town Hall at 1000, Richmond Market Place at 1030, arriving at Hawes Market Place at 1150. Onward connections are available on Northern DalesBus 832 leaving Hawes at 1235 for Ribblehead, Ingleton, and Kirkby Lonsdale. The return bus departs Kirkby Lonsdale at 1530 arriving back in Hawes at 1625. The bus continues from Hawes at 1640 for the return journey on Northern DalesBus 831 arriving in Richmond at 1755 and Middlesbrough Bus Station at 1858. Single tickets for each journey are just £2, as part of a national initiative. Elderly and disabled concessionary bus passes are not valid for free travel on Northern DalesBus 831 or 832 on journeys starting in North Yorkshire. Passholders can pay a single fare of £2, or purchase a £5 Dales Privilege Rover for a day’s travel. Northern DalesBus 831 and 832 are managed by Dales and Bowland Community Interest Company, part of Friends of the Dales, with financial support from the Jack Brunton Charitable Trust, Friends of the Dales and local fundraising. Access to the picturesque Washburn Valley is improved from this weekend with the reintroduction of the Sunday DalesBus service from Keighley, Shipley, Guiseley and Otley, with an increased service for Summer 2023.
This popular service into Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has been improved to provide an hourly shuttle service on DalesBus 820 between Otley, Fewston village (for the Washburn Heritage Centre), and Fewston/Swinsty reservoirs every Sunday and Bank Holiday until 22nd October 2023. Buses leave from Keighley Bus Station at 0925 & 1025, Shipley Market Place at 0950 & 1050, Guiseley White Cross at 1000 and 1100; and from Otley Bus Station at 1020 and every hour until 1520. Nidderdale DalesBus 821 will also provide the usual link from Guiseley and Otley to Pateley Bridge and Scar House Reservoir in Upper Nidderdale, connecting at Pateley Bridge with double-decker DalesBus 822 to Grassington. The bus leaves Keighley Bus Station at 0925 and Otley Bus Station at 1020 & 1320, providing access not just to the Washburn Valley but also Blubberhouses, Coldstones Cut, Pateley Bridge, Gouthwaite Reservoir. Lofthouse and Scar House Reservoir in Upper Nidderdale. Stronger walkers can walk from Scar House either past or over Little Whernside then climb up to Great Whernside summit, before descending to Kettlewell to catch other DalesBus services back to the West Yorkshire area. This year, there is an additional Sunday and Bank Holiday service (DalesBus 876) running from York, Leeds, Otley and Ilkley to Grassington, with onward connections to Upper Wharfedale and Hawes. DalesBus 875 is also extended to start from York, calling at Seacroft. DalesBus services 875 and 876 will both normally be operated by double-decker buses to provide more space and great views. £2 single fares will continue to be available until the end of June. On Saturdays Wharfedale DalesBus 74 again links York, Harrogate, Otley, Ilkley, Bolton Abbey, Burnsall and Grassington, connecting with double-decker DalesBus 59 between Harrogate, Bolton Bridge and Skipton. Following a major review of bus services in the Burnley area the Pendle Wizz service between Burnley and Skipton will be replaced by new service M6, running via Nelson, from 16th April 2023 Buses will continue to serve Skipton approximately hourly seven days a week.

Garsdale Station Shuttle & Demand Responsive Service
Wensleydale Voyager 156 There are some small timing changes to this timetable with the Leyburn bus starting and finishing slightly earlier to allow passengers to connect from Leyburn to Garsdale Station, coordinating with the first outbound Garsdale Shuttle service. In addition, buses will only make three scheduled stops at Sycamore Hall each day. Non-scheduled stops will become book in advance only, and booking should be made through the Little White Bus office. When the emergency timetable has finished the bus that starts in Keld at 1015 will connect on Wednesdays with the Richmondshire Rover bus to Northallerton. The return bus from Northallerton will connect with the 1535 service from Richmond to Keld. Richmondshire Rover RR1 The timing of the Wednesday bus to Northallerton will be altered to allow it to meet the inbound Swaledale bus in Richmond at 1120. Most journeys will depart from Stand B in Ilkley Bus Station, instead of stand C. Service 70 between Northallerton, Thirsk and Ripon will have a revised timetable from Monday 12th September 2022, with improved connections at Thirsk with buses to/from York. Through fares will be available.
The service will be operated by Reliance and Hodgsons, in place of Dales & District. Minor changes will be made to Keighley Bus Company service 64 from 5th September 2022.
