From 25th March 2024 Stagecoach service 563 from Penrith to Appleby will be extended to Kirkby Stephen, Sedbergh and Kendal on Monday to Friday with a revised timetable.
On Saturdays service 563 will continue to run between Penrith, Appleby, Kirkby Stephen and Kirkby Stephen Station. Services operated by Western Dales Bus in the area will continue unchanged. Minor changes will be made to the timetable of Dales & District service 159 from 8th January 2024 to improve reliability:
A new national rail timetable starts on 10th December 2023. There are only minor changes to times on the Leeds-Settle-Carlisle and Leeds-Lancaster-Morecambe lines. The new timetable is available here (PDF file)
On Sundays the 0859 train from Leeds to Carlisle is retimed to depart at 0909 and run around ten minutes later throughout the journey. Connecting trains to Shipley run from Ilkley at 0853 and Bradford Forster Square at 0913. In order to maintain connections at Skipton, the following Sunday buses are retimed:
The Dales Railcard Winter Offer is back, and continues until Sunday 24th March 2024.
It offers holders of Dales Railcards a 50% saving off the usual price of Off-Peak Day Return tickets on the Leeds to Carlisle via Settle, and Leeds – Lancaster/Morecambe via Bentham routes. Tickets can be purchased on Northern website, on the Northern app, at ticket offices, or from conductors on trains when boarding at unstaffed stations. The offer is not available on local journeys Skipton – Bradford Forster Square / Leeds inclusive or Carnforth – Morecambe / Heysham Port inclusive, as per conditions of the Dales Railcard. The Winter Saturday timetable on Craven Connection bus services 75 and 580 starts on 4th November 2023.
This year for the first time, Saturday DalesBus 74 from York to Harrogate, Ilkley, Bolton Abbey, Burnsall and Grassington will continue running throughout the winter months. As part of the national initiative to reduce the cost of bus travel the maximum single fare on these services is just £2, with under 19s travelling for £1. Elderly and disabled bus passes are also valid for free travel. Single bus fares will be capped at £2 by most bus companies until the end of December 2024 as part of a special offer funded by the Department for Transport.

The Summer 2023 season on the Sunday DalesBus network will come to an end on 22nd October 2023.
DalesBus services 820, 821, 822, 831, 832, 855, 875 & 876 will all finish that day for the winter period. All other services will continue running during the winter, including for the first time Cravenlink service 864 between Bradford, Shipley, Ilkley, Skipton and Malham, connecting at Ilkley with DalesBus 874 to/from Bolton Abbey, Grassington and Buckden. Eden Express service S6 will continue unchanged on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Revised timetables will be introduced on the following Monday to Saturday bus services from 4th September 2023 to improve reliability, with some journeys running slightly earlier or later than currently:

Woof's service W1 between Sedbergh and Kendal was withdrawn from 21st July 2023 due to increasing costs and low revenue.
A service between Dent Station, Dent, Sedbergh and Kendal is provided on Saturdays by Western Dales Bus service S1. A service will be provided between Dent, Sedbergh and Kendal on Wednesdays by Western Dales Bus service S1 from 4th October 2023. |
